Ian McAllister

Ian McAllister is a highly experienced public transport professional with over four decades in the sector, combining senior leadership roles in UK bus operations with a broad portfolio of international consultancy work.

In the UK, Ian has held key posts including Managing Director at Stagecoach Group and Operations Director at FirstGroup, alongside senior roles with Transport for London operators and consultancy firms such as MVA (now SYSTRA). His operational expertise is complemented by a strong track record in business development, network planning, franchising, and stakeholder engagement.

Internationally, Ian has delivered advisory and project management roles across the Philippines, Nigeria, the Gulf States and Qatar. Recent work includes supporting the development of Davao City’s High Priority Bus System in the Philippines, advising on electric vehicle adoption, and contributing to UK Government-funded transport initiatives in Asia and Africa. In Nigeria, he led work on bus policy and BRT integration for the Future Cities programme, while in the Gulf, he played a hands-on role in the operational launch of new bus and taxi systems in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Doha.

Ian’s experience spans the full range of bus industry functions – from depot-level management to national franchise planning – underpinned by strong commercial and financial acumen. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and holds qualifications in marketing, finance and international passenger transport. Now based in Metro Manila, Ian continues to support major transport reforms and initiatives internationally.
