Nicola Price

Nicola is a strategic transport modeller with over 15 years of industry experience, based near Cambridge. With an MEng (Hons) in Computer Systems and Software Engineering from the University of York, she has built a career rooted in technical excellence, quality assurance and innovative problem-solving.

Nicola’s expertise spans strategic transport modelling, demand forecasting, land use interactions and data analysis, with experience working both locally in Cambridgeshire and nationally across the UK. Her past clients have included Cambridgeshire County Council, the Department for Transport, National Highways and Transport for the North.

During her tenure at Atkins (2006-2022), Nicola progressed from Assistant Transport Planner to Managing Consultant, where she championed best practices through the Transport Modelling Technical Forum and embedded quality assurance across teams. Her portfolio includes the Cambridge Sub-Regional Model (CSRM and CSRM2), the A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon scheme, the London 2012 Olympic Route Network, and the National Transport Model. She has particular expertise in applying tools such as SATURN, MEPLAN, MapInfo, Excel and Python to deliver robust, data-driven insights.

Since 2022, Nicola has embraced a creative and entrepreneurial path, founding a fused glass art business and managing a self-build project for an energy-efficient family home — while taking a break from her full-time transport modelling career to focus more on family life. She is now returning to transport modelling as part of the TFTC Collective.
