Robin Kaenzig
Robin Kaenzig is a transport economist with over 20 years’ experience delivering evidence‑based transport policy, evaluation, and investment appraisal in the UK and internationally.
In the UK, he has led major economic assessments for Transport for London, the Department for Transport, and multiple local authorities. He led the independent enquiry into congestion in London for TfL, was lead economist for the national evaluation of roadworks permit schemes, and has supported Greater Manchester, Bristol, Southampton, Hampshire, Nottinghamshire, and Lambeth with the design of permit and lane rental schemes. He has prepared TAG‑compliant business cases for successful scheme bids including the Nottingham Southern Growth Corridor, a public transport strategy for Worcester, and a vision for Plymouth’s Park & Ride network. His rail demand modelling work includes co‑authoring elasticity values adopted into the Passenger Demand Forecasting Handbook.
Internationally, Robin has delivered economic and financial appraisals for major infrastructure and public transport programmes. Recent projects include supporting Tirana’s urban bus reform, securing €5M in operational subsidy, and modelling the transition to electric buses as part of the city’s Bus Rapid Transit scheme. He has developed financing mechanisms for fleet renewal in the Philippines and Africa, and led the economic appraisal of three proposed high‑speed rail lines in Egypt.
Robin holds an MSc in Transport Planning and Management and a BSc in Economics with French. He is an Associate Member of the Transport Planning Society.
